Anya Taylor-Joy Is Now A Gamer After Prepping For Mario Movie — “It’s Really Fun”

Actress Anya Taylor-Joy voices Peach in the upcoming Super Mario Bros. movie. She wasn’t much of a gamer before getting the part, but she told Modern Luxury that she did her research for the role and is now a big fan. However, she might not play them like the rest of us in the year 2022.

“Now I am a gamer, and it’s really fun. Ideally, I like playing at arcades, because, again, it’s like cinema; I love the ceremony. I’ll go with a whole bunch of friends. And we’ll just spend hours at the arcade,” she said.

Before this, Taylor-Joy spoke to MTV’s Josh Horowitz about playing Peach and how she specifically enjoys playing games at the arcade. “My favorite way to play is at the arcade. I’ve now become a hardcore adult arcade individual,” she said.

Taylor-Joy is part of a big ensemble cast for the Mario movie. The film also stars Chris Pratt as Mario, Jack Black as Bowser, and Charlie Day as Luigi. Seth Rogen voices Donkey Kong and Keegan-Michael Key portrays Toad. The Mario movie is directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic; it’s written by Matthew Fogel.

The Mario movie arrives in theaters in April 2023, and it’s expected to do big business at the box office. The highest-grossing video game movie of all time is Warcraft with about $440 million worldwide. For more, check out GameSpot’s rundown of the highest-grossing video game movies of all time.
