Adam Sandler’s Next Netflix Movie Revealed, Brings Back Uncut Gems Team
Adam Sandler movies on Netflix are immensely popular, and the streaming company is seemingly staying in business with the comedic actor for his next film.
The new film doesn’t have a title yet, but it’ll star Sandler and is written and directed by Josh and Benny Safdie, according to Deadline. Sandler and the Safdie brothers worked together on the 2019 movie Uncut Gems, which generated lots of positive buzz and strong reviews for Sandler’s performance, in particular.
Sandler threatened to make a very bad movie after Uncut Gems if he didn’t earn an Oscar nomination for the film. He didn’t, and his next movie he made was Hubie Halloween.
Going back to his new Netflix film, sources told Deadline that the hope is for cameras to start rolling in Q2 2023, so sometime in the April-June period of next year. Sources told the site that the new Sandler/Safdie brothers movie would be “set in the world of high-end card collecting.” Uncut Gems, meanwhile, was about high-end jewelry and gambling.
Sandler has made many Netflix movies over the years, including Sandy Wexler, The Ridiculous Six, The Do-Over, The Week Of, and the basketball movie Hustle most recently. Looking ahead, he’s set to star in the Netflix movies Murder Mystery 2, Spaceman, and You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah.
As of 2020, Netflix members had viewed more than 2 billion hours of Sandler movies on the platform, a figure that has no doubt grown substantially higher since then.
In other Netflix news, the company’s new ad-based subscription tier arrives in November priced at $7 per month. Additionally, beginning in early 2023, Netflix will crack down on password-sharing.
