First Look At New Evil Dead Sequel Movie Released For Halloween

The Evil Dead franchise began as a cult classic with the original film in 1981. The film made writer/director Sami Raimi, a then-fresh face to horror, one of the leading voices for the past four decades. Now, the story continues with director Lee Cronin (50 States of Fright, The Hole in the Ground), with a script co-written by Cronin and Raimi in Evil Dead Rise.

Cronin has been teasing fans this month with filming progress on his Twitter, but on Halloween, the original star of The Evil Dead, Bruce Campbell posted the official first look at the upcoming sequel that is sure to hype fans up.

The film’s official synopsis reveals it’s about two estranged sisters, played by Alyssa Sutherland and Lily Sullivan, whose reunion is cut short by the rise of flesh-possessing demons, thrusting them into a primal battle for survival as they face the most nightmarish version of family imaginable. It’s unconfirmed who the woman in the photo is, but it’s guaranteed to not be great for those on the other side.

Principal photography commenced on June 6 last year in New Zealand with Cronin saying it concluded in late October. The filmmaker stated that the project used over 6,500 liters of fake blood during production.

Sutherland and Sullivan will be joined by up-and-coming actors Gabrielle Echols, Morgan Davies, Nell Fisher, and Mia Challis. Evil Dead Rise will be the fifth official entry into the film franchise.
