The vacation is coming up, or it may already be here. You know that you want to go out mountain biking, but the decision to rent a mountain or book a bike tour has you stumped. It’s a common issue amongst beginners or intermediate bikers when outside of their home ground.
Renting a mountain bike and booking a bike tour both have their separate benefits and also come with a couple of drawbacks. In our eyes, it’s easy to see what is the best for who, and that’s what this article is for. We want everyone to get the experience that fits them right. Mountain biking in Arizona needs to be enjoyed by everyone that heads out to do it, and we’re here to help.
What’s the best option? Renting a mountain bike or booking a bike tour?
Option 1: Renting a Mountain Bike
Here’s our first option; renting a mountain bike and taking it with you to any trailhead you want, and discovering the trails on your own. Many people prefer renting a mountain bike for the freedom it can provide, but other restrictions come along.
Renting a mountain bike means you can go anywhere in the country or world and get a bike that fits you perfectly without having to haul around your setup. Bike rentals are often newer models of bikes that are kept in excellent condition. You can also find shops that don’t strive for a high standard, but you don’t need to rent from them. There are great rentals in every state. You just need to find them.
Not only can you find the right bike almost anywhere, you then have the freedom to ride anywhere you want with it. You’ll need to transport the bike if you’re looking at trails that are a bit further out, which can be difficult with a compact rental car. If you’re equipped to haul a bike, then the world is your oyster.
The drawbacks of renting a bike tend to come from your circumstances. Like we mentioned, if you don’t have a way to transport your bike, you have to ride it from the store, and your options of trails have just become very limited. There is also an amount of liability that can make renting a bike more costly. If you damage the bike in any way, some stores will charge you a considerable amount for repairs.
Option 2: Booking a Bike Tour
It’s not too difficult to say with confidence that booking a bike tour is the best option of the two for beginner or intermediate riders. There are loads of benefits with a much lower number of drawbacks when on a bike tour than when you rent a bike.
First off, Sonoran Outdoor Adventure bike tours are designed to give you some of the best riding for your level with guidance throughout the ride and help to improve skills at the same time. If you’re a beginner or looking to fine-tune some more skills, taking a bike tour will put you with professionals on a trail that is picked to have the right amount of challenge and fun paired together.
Booking a bike tour ensures that you will be with a group guided by a professional, which brings down the risk factor dramatically. It creates a safer environment to learn and practice skills that you aren’t as comfortable working on alone.
Our bike tours happen in some of the most beautiful places in Arizona, and the bikes allow you to see more in less time. You’ll see spectacular scenery as well as learn about the history and environment that surrounds you while riding.
